Fuchsia encliandra (Zucc.) Steud. is a shrub species that grows up to 2 meters, or 6½ feet, tall. It produces simple leaves with smooth edges that grow opposite one another at stem nodes. Individual plants can bear only male flowers, only female flowers, or a mix of both male and female flowers, a reproductive system called subdioecy. This species is distributed from central Mexico south to Nicaragua. It grows in mountainous areas, primarily within the seasonally dry tropical biome.
