About Fritillaria ojaiensis Davidson
Fritillaria ojaiensis Davidson grows an erect stem that reaches a maximum height of around 0.5 meters (1.6 feet). Its long, straight, very narrow leaves grow in whorls on the lower part of the stem, and in pairs near the stem's top. Flowers develop at spaced intervals along the stem. Each pendent, nodding flower has six tepals that measure 1 to 3 centimeters long. The flower ranges in color from greenish yellow to purple, and is marked with purple mottling. In the center of the flower is a large nectary, surrounded by stamens that bear large yellow anthers. This species is similar to Fritillaria affinis, and it is sometimes classified as the same species.
