About Fritillaria dagana Turcz.
Fritillaria dagana Turcz. grows to a height of 20 to 35 cm. It produces one single pendant, campanulate flower, which is brown-violet on the outside and yellowish with mottled patterns on the inside. Its perianth segments measure 4 cm long and 10 to 13 mm wide. Its leaves are lanceolate, 6 to 8 cm long, and arranged in a single whorl of 2 to 5 leaves in the upper portion of the stem; only occasionally an extra upper leaf grows further up the stem. Its fruit is an elongated capsule. The chromosome count for this species is 2n = 24. Fritillaria dagana is endemic to southern Siberia, occurring specifically in the Irkutsk and Chita regions, and the Republics of Buryatia, Tuva, and Yakutia. It grows in alpine and subalpine habitats, on forest edges and grassy slopes. When cultivated, Fritillaria dagana blooms from mid-June to mid-July.
