About Fritillaria camschatcensis (L.) Ker Gawl.
Fritillaria camschatcensis (L.) Ker Gawl. produces bulbs that have several large, fleshy scales, which are similar to the bulbs of commercially cultivated garlic. Its leaves are lanceolate in shape, grow up to 10 centimeters long, and are arranged in whorls along the stem. The stem can reach up to 60 centimeters in height, and bears flowers at its apex. The flowers are either spreading or nodding, meaning they hang downwards. Their color ranges from dark greenish brown to brownish purple, which is often described as chocolate colored, and they are sometimes mottled with yellow. These flowers have a distinct foul smell, and are pollinated by flies that are attracted to this unpleasant odor.
