About Friseria acaciella (Busck, 1906)

Friseria acaciella is a species of moth belonging to the family Gelechiidae. It occurs in Mexico and the southern United States, with confirmed records from the U.S. states of Texas and Louisiana. This moth has a wingspan of approximately 13 millimeters. Its forewings are dark purple, with coloration that becomes slightly lighter toward the wing apex and along the dorsal edge. A large, oblique, quadrangular yellowish-white spot is located at the basal third of the forewing; one corner of this spot extends downward across the wing fold. A faint, ill-defined, irregular transverse whitish line runs across the wing at the apical third, between the darker basal section and the lighter apical section of the forewing. The hindwings of Friseria acaciella are dark fuscous. The larvae of this moth feed on Acacia farnesiana, and the larvae themselves are whitish with a black head.
