Freesia caryophyllacea (Burm.f.) N.E.Br. is a dwarf, perennial geophyte that is endemic to the Western Cape of South Africa, where it grows as part of the fynbos vegetation. Its distribution ranges from Wolseley to Swellendam, Hermanus, and the Agulhas Plain. This species grows to a height of 5 to 10 centimeters. Freesia caryophyllacea has already lost 77% of its habitat to agricultural activities, urban development, and invasive plants, and this ongoing habitat loss continues today.
