Forsterygion varium, commonly called the variable triplefin or striped triplefin, is a species of triplefin. It is native to New Zealand and has been introduced to Tasmania, Australia, most likely via oyster shipment traffic. This species occurs in rock pools and on reef habitats with broken rock and kelp, at depths down to 30 metres.
