About Forestiera acuminata (Michx.) Poir.

Forestiera acuminata (Michx.) Poir., commonly called eastern swamp privet, is a deciduous shrub or small tree. It is native to the southeastern and central United States, where it grows primarily in or near wetlands. It is especially common along the Mississippi Valley as far north as Illinois and Indiana, and can also be found across the southern region from eastern Texas to South Carolina. This species grows in swamp forests, as well as on the rocky edges of streams and ponds. It can tolerate flooding, and its fruit is eaten by wild ducks.
