About Floydia praealta (F.Muell.) L.A.S.Johnson & B.G.Briggs
Floydia praealta is a tree that reaches a height of up to 30 m (98 ft), with a trunk that can grow up to 60 cm (24 in) in diameter. Its leaves are mid-green, shiny, hairless and stiff. Individual leaves grow up to 25 cm (9.8 in) long and 3 cm (1.2 in) wide, and are attached by a petiole up to 1.2 cm (0.47 in) long. Between 10 and 28 pairs of secondary veins are present, along with densely reticulate tertiary venation; both types of venation are clearly visible on both leaf surfaces. The inflorescence is a raceme up to 20 cm (7.9 in) long, which bears many cream flowers that grow in pairs. The flowers have 4 hairy tepals and reach up to 1.7 cm (0.67 in) in length. The fruit is a spherical, woody follicle, with a diameter of around 3 to 4 cm (1.2 to 1.6 in).
