About Flavoparmelia soredians (Nyl.) Hale
Flavoparmelia soredians (Nyl.) Hale is a widely distributed foliose lichen species belonging to the large family Parmeliaceae. Before the late 1990s, this lichen occurred rarely in the Netherlands, at which point an increase in its frequency was observed there. This growth in population happened after a reduction in levels of the air pollutant sulphur dioxide. Two other foliose lichen species, Punctelia borreri and Flavoparmelia caperata, saw a similar increase in regional frequency during the same period.
