This species, Fissurella rosea, was first described by Gmelin in 1791. The shell of Fissurella rosea ranges in size from 17 mm to 40 mm. This species is distributed in the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, waters adjacent to the Lesser Antilles, and in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Southern Brazil.
