Fimbristylis puberula (Michx.) Vahl, commonly known as hairy fimbry, is a species of flowering plant belonging to the sedge family Cyperaceae. It is native to North America, where it has a widespread but patchy distribution across the continent. Its largest populations are located in the Southeastern Coastal Plain and the eastern Great Plains. This plant's natural habitat includes prairies, savannas, and glades, and it can grow on both basic and acidic soils. It is a perennial plant that produces fruit in late spring and early summer. Historically, it has been confused with the similar-looking species Fimbristylis caroliniana, which is restricted to coastal areas.
