About Filistata insidiatrix (Forsskål, 1775)

Filistata insidiatrix is a species of spider whose range extends from the Mediterranean region to Turkmenistan, and it also occurs on the Cape Verde Islands. This species is the largest known member of the filistatid spider family. Females reach a maximum body length of 14 millimeters, while males grow up to 7 millimeters. These are slender brown spiders that have long pedipalps. Out of their eight total eyes, two are distinctly white and easy to identify. Individuals are found on old walls and under rocks, where they construct a tube-shaped web with a funnel-like opening.
