About Filhollianassa filholi (A.Milne-Edwards, 1879)
Filhollianassa filholi lives in underground burrows dug into sand. This shrimp has flap-shaped abdominal appendages called pleopods, which it uses for swimming and to generate water flow through its burrow. It can perform somersaults when moving through its tunnels, and uses its wide tail fan for stabilization inside the burrow. Males have two claws, one of which is clearly larger than the other. Females carry fertilized yellow eggs on their abdomen.
