About Ficedula strophiata (Hodgson, 1837)

The rufous-gorgeted flycatcher, with the scientific name Ficedula strophiata, is a bird species that belongs to the Muscicapidae family. It is native to the Himalayas, the Patkai ranges, central and southern China, northern Indochina, and eastern Vietnam. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. This species is also commonly found in the temperate forest areas near boreal mountains in northern Kachin State, Myanmar. Rufous-gorgeted flycatchers spend the winter in locations including Thailand, northern Laos, and Vietnam, and the Himalayas make up their major breeding range. They carry out altitudinal migrations. As suggested by their common name, these birds have a reddish brown base color and a distinctly colored patch on their throat.
