About Felimare villafranca (Risso, 1818)
Felimare villafranca (Risso, 1818) is predominantly dark blue, with a pattern of longitudinal yellow lines across its body. These yellow lines branch and curve, and sometimes form a network in the middle of the back. Along the mantle edge, there is a double yellow line; between this double line and the next set of yellow lines covering the back, there are either a series of bright blue, elongated patches or a broken blue line. A series of white patches may sit inside these blue markings. The rhinophores are translucent blue, with opaque white pigment at the base of the club and in a line along the back of the rhinophore, while the tips are blue. The gills are also translucent blue, with an opaque white midline on both their inner and outer faces. This species can grow up to 40 millimeters in total body length. It is a nudibranch found on the coasts of the Eastern Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, ranging from France and the Bay of Biscay south to Morocco, and including the Cape Verde Islands, Canary Islands, and Azores.
