About Fascista cercerisella (Chambers, 1872)

Fascista cercerisella, commonly known as the redbud leaffolder, is a moth species belonging to the family Gelechiidae. In the United States, its distribution ranges from Pennsylvania and Maryland in the northeast, southward to Florida, westward to Texas, and northward to Kansas. This moth has a wingspan measuring 13 to 16 mm. In the southern portion of its range, adult moths are active in flight from April through October. The flight season is shorter in the northern part of the species' range. Northern populations have one generation per year, while southern populations may have two generations annually. The larvae of Fascista cercerisella feed on Cercis canadensis, and they skeletonize the leaves of their host plant.
