About Fasciosminthurus quinquefasciatus (Krausbauer, 1898)
Fasciosminthurus quinquefasciatus, commonly called the zebra springtail, is a species of springtail in the genus Fasciosminthurus. It is originally from Eurasia, and has since spread to many countries around the world, including North America. This species is distinguished by its brown body marked with white stripes, a pattern that is compared to the patterning of a zebra. In most specimens, these white stripes are outlined with black stripes. The antennae of this species have four segments. It feeds on wood and dead plant matter, and is most commonly found in gravel trails or similar urban localities.
