About Exyra semicrocea Guenée, 1852
Exyra semicrocea, commonly known as the pitcher plant mining moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Noctuidae. Its scientific name was first published by Guenée in 1852. In the United States, this species ranges from northern North Carolina south to Florida, and west to Texas. The wingspan of adult moths measures between 16 and 26 mm. The larval stage of Exyra semicrocea feeds on five species of Sarracenia: Sarracenia minor, Sarracenia rubra, Sarracenia alata, Sarracenia leucophylla, and Sarracenia psittacina.
