About Exoprosopa jacchus (Fabricius, 1805)

Exoprosopa jacchus is a species of bee fly in the family Bombyliidae, subfamily Anthracinae. It is commonly known as the silvery bee-fly, and can be found across most of Europe. Adult individuals of this species reach an average body length of 12 millimeters (0.47 inches). This species has dark-brown coloring on both the head and thorax. The thorax is quite hairy, and marked with silvery-white scales. The abdomen is blackish, with a few stripes made of silver hairs, and it is hairy along its sides. The wings are mottled with light and dark brown, and feature hyaline patches on the front border cell (R1). The third segment of the antenna is longer than the fourth segment.
