About Exocarpos syrticola (F.Muell. ex Miq.) Stauffer

Exocarpos syrticola, which has the common names coastal ballart and coast ballart, is a plant species in the sandalwood family Santalaceae. This species is endemic to Australia, where it grows on the coastal fringes of the states of Victoria, Tasmania, and South Australia. Ferdinand von Mueller first formally described the taxon in 1856 as Exocarpos strictus var. syrticola, and it was elevated to full species status under the name Exocarpos syrticola by Hans Ulrich Stauffer in 1959.
