About Exilisciurus whiteheadi (Thomas, 1887)
The tufted pygmy squirrel, scientifically named Exilisciurus whiteheadi, is a rodent species that belongs to the Sciuridae family. It is endemic to the highland forests of Borneo, and it forages on tree trunks within this range. The common name of this very small squirrel comes from its characteristic, distinctive ear-tufts. This species is omnivorous. Its diet is a mixture of insects (most commonly ants), tree bark flakes, mosses, and fruit and vegetable matter.
