About Exaeretia ciniflonella Zeller, 1846

Exaeretia ciniflonella, first described by Zeller in 1846, is a moth species belonging to the family Depressariidae. Its distribution ranges from Great Britain to Fennoscandia, extending south through Germany to Italy, and east through Austria, Poland and the Baltic region to the eastern Palearctic realm. This species is also found in western North America. It has a wingspan of 17–24 mm. Adult moths are active from July to August before overwintering, and sometimes emerge again in early spring. The larvae feed on species of Betula, Populus and Salix, living within a rolled or folded leaf of these host plants.
