Euthamia leptocephala is a perennial herb or subshrub that can grow up to 100 cm (40 inches) tall. Its leaves are alternate and simple, with a long and narrow shape that can reach up to 8 cm (3.2 inches) in length. A single plant can produce numerous small yellow flower heads arranged in flat-topped clusters. Each flower head holds 7 to 14 ray florets, which surround 3 to 6 disc florets.
