About Eutaxia diffusa F.Muell.

This species, scientifically named Eutaxia diffusa F.Muell., has plants that reach 0.5 to 1 metre in height, with a spread of a similar size. Its leaves are small, grey-green, obovate or narrow obovate, paler on the underside, and have an acute tip. The single pea-shaped flowers have orange-yellow keels, yellow wings, and a yellow standard that may bear red markings. In the species' native range, flowers form between August and October. Ellipsoid fruits follow in November, measuring around 5.5 mm long and 4 mm wide. The distribution of Eutaxia diffusa extends south from Inglewood in Queensland through New South Wales, where it occurs in mallee communities, continuing into south-western Victoria and westward into South Australia. It is associated with the tree species Eucalyptus behriana, Acacia trineura, and Melaleuca lanceolata. Ecologically, caterpillars of the Fringed Blue butterfly feed on Eutaxia diffusa.
