About Euspilapteryx auroguttella Stephens, 1835
Euspilapteryx auroguttella Stephens, 1835 has a wingspan of 9 to 10 millimeters. The antennae of this species have a white apex. Its forewings are dark fuscous with a purplish tinge; roundish bright yellow spots occur below the costa at 1/3, on the costa at 2/3, and two more on the dorsum near the base and before the tornus. Hindwings are grey. Fully grown larvae are whitish-green with a greener dorsal line and a pale yellow-brown head. Adults of Euspilapteryx auroguttella are on wing in May and August, producing two generations per year. The larvae feed on a wide range of Hypericum species: Hypericum adenotrichum, Hypericum elegans, Hypericum hircinum, Hypericum hirsutum, Hypericum humifusum, Hypericum maculatum, Hypericum montanum, Hypericum olympicum, Hypericum perforatum, Hypericum rhodoppeum, and Hypericum tetrapterum. Larvae feed internally by mining the leaves of their host plants.
