This species, Eurypegasus draconis, is commonly known as the little dragonfish or short dragonfish. It is a species of marine ray-finned fish that belongs to the family Pegasidae. It has a widespread distribution across the tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific, including the Red Sea. This fish can reach a maximum length of 10 cm (3.9 in), and it sheds its entire skin in a single piece. Just in China and Hong Kong alone, millions of individuals of this species are sold annually for use in traditional medicine.
