About Eurygaster testudinaria (Geoffroy, 1785)

Eurygaster testudinaria (Geoffroy, 1785) is a shieldbug species native to the Palearctic realm. Its distribution ranges across Europe, from the Northern Mediterranean to southern Scandinavia, and extends eastward through Central Asia to reach northern China and Japan. This species is very hard to tell apart from the related species Eurygaster maura, though Eurygaster testudinaria can be distinguished by a slight central depression on the front of its head. Like Eurygaster maura, Eurygaster testudinaria also has variable coloration. Eurygaster testudinaria feeds on plants in the Poaceae family, which are grasses.
