About Eurygaster maura (Linnaeus, 1758)
Eurygaster maura (Linnaeus, 1758) adults reach a length of 8–11 millimetres (0.31–0.43 in). This species has an oval, slightly convex body and a smoothly rounded triangular head, which bears a small pair of compound eyes. The pronotum has slightly protruding hind corners, and the scutellum covers both the wings and the entire abdomen. Its base body color is most commonly brown, but can also be light gray or black. Eurygaster maura is quite similar in appearance to Eurygaster testudinaria, but it is slightly smaller, has a smoothly rounded shape, and its pronotum hind corners are less protruding. This species is widespread across Europe, and is also found across large parts of Asia and North America. It inhabits calcareous grasslands that contain wild grasses.
