About Euprotomus bulla (Röding, 1798)

This species of sea snail, Euprotomus bulla (Röding, 1798), has a shell that ranges in size between 48 millimeters and 90 millimeters. Its shell is nearly elliptical in shape, with a rough dorsal surface and tubercles along the shoulders. The outer shell surface is glossy cream-colored, marked with fawn mottling; mature specimens also show gray spiral bands. The inner aperture of the shell is bright pink or orange. Euprotomus bulla is distributed across the Pacific Ocean, found along the coasts of Indonesia, the Ryukyu Islands of Japan, and Samoa. This species is known to occur at depths around 500 feet, where individuals have been collected via tangle nets.
