About Eupithecia palpata Packard, 1873

Eupithecia palpata, commonly known as the small pine looper, is a moth species belonging to the family Geometridae. This species was first formally described by Alpheus Spring Packard in 1873. It can be found across Canada, including the provinces of Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia, as well as in the northeastern region of the United States. Its typical habitat is spruce woods. The wingspan of this moth is approximately 23 mm. The larvae of Eupithecia palpata feed on balsam fir, eastern hemlock, eastern larch, pines, and spruces, and may also feed on other types of conifers.
