Dandy in 1969 treated Euphorbia stricta L. as a superfluous name for E. verrucosa L., but Riedl in 1970 disagreed, noting both names were in the 1759 genus account.
Note: Dandy (in Watsonia 7: 157 - 178, 1969) considered Euphorbia stricta L. a superfluous name for E. verrucosa L. (1753). However, Riedl (in Taxon 19: 798, 1970) disagreed, pointing out that both names were present in the 1759 account of the genus.
