About Euphorbia leuconeura Boiss.
Euphorbia leuconeura Boiss. is a species of flowering plant in the Euphorbiaceae family, commonly known as Madagascar jewel. This species is endemic to Madagascar, where its natural habitat is forest undergrowth in rocky areas. It grows as a branching small tree, reaching up to 1.8 m (6 ft) in height, and reproduces by propelling its seeds several feet through the air. It is currently threatened by habitat loss.
When this plant is damaged, it secretes a white toxic fluid that can cause severe skin irritation, a trait that is typical of most species in the Euphorbia genus.
Madagascar jewel is cultivated as a houseplant valued for its attractive foliage: young leaves are dark green with white veins. Unlike many succulents, E. leuconeura is less prone to damage from overwatering. It grows best in partial shade, but can tolerate full shade, and is relatively easy to care for as long as it is not exposed to cold drafts.
