About Euphorbia aphylla Brouss. ex Willd.
Euphorbia aphylla Brouss. ex Willd. is a short shrub that grows to around 50 cm (20 in) tall. It has slender, leafless stems. Its virtually stemless flowers grow in small clusters at the tips of the stems. Very small light brown or reddish fruits contain small brown seeds. This species is native to the Canary Islands. It grows along the north coast of Gran Canaria, where it is locally common in areas near the sea. On Tenerife, it is also a coastal plant, found in the northwest and south of the island. It also grows in La Gomera. Euphorbia aphylla is a halophyte, occurring on coastal rocks and sea-facing slopes at elevations up to 150 m (490 ft).
