About Euphaea amphicyana Ris, 1930
Euphaea amphicyana Ris, 1930 is a species of damselfly endemic to the Philippines. It is native to the Philippine islands of Samar, Leyte, Panaon, Homonhon, Mindanao, Dinagat, and Basilan. This species prefers open spaces along forested clear flowing streams, creeks, and rivers. Males are most often seen perching on nearby vegetation or boulders, while females prefer to stay on the tall branches of nearby trees. Its larvae live among debris in slow-moving sections of these waterways, and adult emergence typically occurs in late morning. Euphaea amphicyana appears to tolerate moderate human disturbance, so long as vegetation and clear running water are preserved. Currently, heavy deforestation and expansion of human settlements within its range pose threats to the species.
