About Eupatorium chinense L.
Eupatorium chinense L. is a plant species classified in the family Asteraceae. Different botanists have established different, conflicting boundaries for what counts as this species. In a 1987 paper by King and Robinson, the species was defined very broadly: this broad definition includes Eupatorium japonicum, Eupatorium makinoi, some varieties of Eupatorium fortunei, and other plants that are sometimes treated as distinct separate species. Eupatorium chinense contains tumorigenic pyrrolizidine alkaloids, which means the species is toxic.
