About Euonymus latifolius (L.) Mill.
Euonymus latifolius, commonly called the broad-leaved spindle tree, is a flowering plant species belonging to the family Celastraceae. It is native to the Mediterranean region, south-central Europe, the Caucasus, and the Middle East, extending as far east as Iran. It has also been introduced to Ireland, Great Britain, and Belgium. This shrub has a rounded growth habit, and grows to between 2.5 and 4 meters (8 to 13 feet) tall. It is most often found growing in shrublands, as well as rocky habitats including inland cliffs and mountain peaks. In its wild habitat, it needs shade to survive, as exposure to too much direct sunlight can kill it. It is a low-maintenance plant suitable for a variety of garden and landscaping uses, and is sold commercially by plant nurseries.
