About Eumenes crucifera Prov., 1888

Eumenes crucifera, commonly called the cross potter wasp, is a North American potter wasp species distributed across Canada, the United States, and Mexico. Most of the variation observed in E. crucifera occurs in its coloration. As a result of this phenotypic variation, four separate subspecies of E. crucifera were previously recognized. As of 2018, one of these former subspecies, Eumenes flavitinctus, has been reclassified as a full species, while the remaining three subspecies have been removed and merged back into Eumenes crucifera.
