About Eulonchus tristis Loew, 1872

Eulonchus tristis is a species of small-headed flies that belongs to the family Acroceridae. A 2008 study found that individual Eulonchus tristis that visited flowers of Brodiaea elegans and Iris douglasiana in California carried large pollen loads. There was no difference in the amount or diversity of these pollen loads between male and female individuals of the species. This species may be an important pollinator, especially for Brodiaea elegans and Iris bracteata.
