About Eulia ministrana (Linnaeus, 1758)
Eulia ministrana is a species of moth that belongs to the family Tortricidae. It is distributed across the Palearctic and Nearctic realms. The wingspan of adult individuals ranges from 18 to 24 mm. This moth has a dark fuscous colored head. Its thorax is ferruginous-ochreous and bears a large crest. The forewings narrow toward the anterior end, and are pale ochreous in base color. Several markings on the forewings are deep ferruginous: the base of the costa, a very large triangular dorsal suffusion that is more or less developed and often has a pale center, and the terminal streak. The forewing cilia are dark ferruginous-fuscous. The hindwings are grey, with a darker termen. Full grown larvae are light green with a brown head. Adult moths are active between May and June, and this species produces one new generation per year. The larvae feed on a variety of shrubs and trees, specifically including Betula pendula, Rhamnus cathartica, Corylus avellana, and Castanea sativa.
