This species was first formally classified in 1862, and it is native to North America. Adult Euleia fratria have been successfully reared from Angelica atropurpurea, Angelica hendersonii, Cicuta douglasii, and many other plants in the Apiaceae family. Euleia fratria larvae are leaf miners, and they may pupate either inside their host plant or in soil.
