About Eudocima hypermnestra (Stoll, 1780)
Eudocima hypermnestra has a wingspan of approximately 88 mm. Its palpi have a long third joint that is spatulate at the tip. The forewings do not taper to a point at the apex, and their outer margin is rounded. Males have a yellowish-green head and thorax; the palpi, collar, and tegula are marked with greyish coloration. The abdomen is orange, and the anal tuft is brownish. The forewings are yellowish-green with dark striae, and have some grey patches on the inner and outer areas. There is an oblique rufous antemedial line, and a very oblique rufous line that runs from the costa before the apex to the center of the inner margin, curving below the costa, where it is joined by a dark streak from the apex. The hindwings are orange, with a black spot at the lower angle of the cell and another black spot above the anal angle. The marginal area of the hindwing is black from the apex to vein 2, and has white marginal and cilial spots; the inner edge of this black area is wavy. The ventral side of the forewings has a white postmedial band. Females have large and small white patches and spots marked with rufous striae on the forewings, located below and beyond the cell, at the outer angle, and below the apex.
