About Eucorynus crassicornis (J.C.Fabricius, 1802)
Eucorynus crassicornis is a species of fungus weevil belonging to the beetle family Anthribidae. It was originally described in 1801 by Johan Christian Fabricius under the name Anthribus crassicornis, based on specimens collected from Sumatra. This species has been recorded in Jeju Island (South Korea), Japan, Far East Russia, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, India, Australia, and Indonesia. In Indonesia, this weevil causes damage to the pods and seeds of legume crops, including Crotalaria striata, other Crotalaria species, and Leucaena leucocephala. In Kerala (India), it is documented as a major destroyer of stored bamboo.
