About Eucometis penicillata (Spix, 1825)
The grey-headed tanager, with the scientific name Eucometis penicillata (originally described by Spix in 1825), is a widely distributed small Neotropical bird that belongs to the tanager family Thraupidae. It is the sole species in the genus Eucometis. This species occurs across Central America and northern South America, ranging from Mexico to Brazil. Its natural habitats include subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, subtropical or tropical swamps, and heavily degraded former forest.
