About Euchloe lotta Beutenmüller, 1898

Euchloe lotta, commonly known as the desert marble, is a species of butterfly found in the interior of British Columbia, Canada. Most of its body and wings are white, with black markings on the upperside of the forewing tips and its body. The underside of its wings has greenish-grey veins, and this marking is especially prominent on the hindwing. The wingspan of adult desert marbles ranges from 38 to 40 mm. In North America, the flight season of this species runs from April to May. It lives in sagelands, deserts, juniper woodland, dry rocky areas, dry ravines, and canyon walls. The larvae of Euchloe lotta feed on Arabis furcata, Arabis sparsiflora, Arabis bolboellii, and Halimolobos whitedi.
