About Euchloe belemia (Esper, 1800)

Euchloe belemia, the green-striped white, is a species of butterfly belonging to the Pieridae family. It can be found in northern Africa, Arabia (specifically Oman and the United Arab Emirates), and the southern Iberian Peninsula, particularly in Spain and Portugal. This butterfly has a wingspan of 36–44 mm, which is equivalent to 1.4–1.7 inches. Adult individuals are active between February and June. The larvae of Euchloe belemia feed on species in the genus Sisymbrium (including Sisymbrium bourgeanum), as well as Diplotaxis tennuisiliqua and Biscutella didyma. Its preferred habitats include lowland scrubland, semi-arid areas, terraces, and cultivated land.
