Euchiton japonicus (Thunb.) Holub is a small stoloniferous perennial herb in the dicotyledonous daisy family (Asteraceae, also called Compositae). It produces yellow and white flowers, and is recognized as a species complex. This plant is native to tropical and subtropical Asia, Oceania, New Zealand, and ranges naturally from Japan south to Australia. It has been introduced to California, Hawaii, and Oregon in the United States. Its pappate cypselae (one-seeded dry fruits with a pappus) are dispersed by wind and water.
