Euchariomyia dives is a small species, measuring between 4 and 6 mm in total body length. Individuals of this species have a head that bears a long proboscis, along with conspicuous silvery tufts of scale-like hairs. These silvery scale-like hair tufts are also present on the thorax and abdomen. The species has iridescent wings, which range in color from dark brown to light brown. It also has long, slender legs that are dark brown and covered in short hairs. This species is mainly distributed across southern and eastern Asia. Confirmed reported locations include Burma, China (Beijing, Guangxi, Shandong), India (Kerala, Orissa, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh), Indonesia (Java, Sumatra), Laos, Malaysia (Kelantan, Penang), Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam.
