Etlingera coccinea (Blume) S.Sakai & Nagam. is a monocotyledonous flowering plant species belonging to Zingiberaceae, the ginger family, and the genus Etlingera. It is recognized for its notably striking, vividly beautiful red flowers. The species was first formally described by Carl Ludwig von Blume, and given its current accepted name by S. Sakai and Hidetoshi Nagamasu. No subspecies of this species are listed in the Catalog of Life. It is native to Southeast Asia, where it occurs in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand. It usually grows in tropical forests, and grows best in humid, warm environments.
