About Ethmia mirusella Chambers, 1874
Ethmia mirusella is a moth species belonging to the family Depressariidae. In the United States, this moth can be found ranging from Kansas and Oklahoma south to central and western Texas. The forewings of adult individuals measure between 7.8 and 9.2 mm, or 0.31 to 0.36 inches, in length. The base color of the forewings is white, and their dark and light patterning is divided by a straight longitudinal line. The area located toward the leading edge of the wing, inside the discal cell, is dark brown, fading to pale brownish and whitish shades toward the costa; the costa itself is only brown at its base. Most of the costal area beyond the end of the discal cell is white. The base color of the hindwings is white, and they are sometimes very faintly tinted with grayish brown near their outer distal margins. Adult moths fly in March, and again from May to September, producing two generations each year. The larvae of this species feed on plants in the Lithospermum genus.
